HOW HAS THE POUND BEEN PERFORMING?
Against the US Dollar
GBP opened the week at 1.2930 edging higher against the Dollar as positive trade talks took place between UK Barnier & EU Frost. The Pound managed to get through the 1.30 region on Monday, but the gains carried on mid-week as it managed to take it further to a 6-week high of 1.3152. Yesterday, the Dollar managed to find some support after Trump was perceived to have done well in last night's debate, seeing more demand in the safe haven currency, pushing prices to 1.3050 as of this morning. The Pound is 1% higher since Monday.
Against the Euro
GBP started the week just above 1.1040 on Monday morning, with a nice positive start from Sterling trying to reach the 1.1100 mark but it just fell short. During mid-week, the Euro gained against the Pound seeing the price drop down to 1.0930 but Sterling did manage to regain those losses yesterday seeing prices hit 1.1090. There has been positive Brexit optimism this week where the market awaits more trade talks.
Brexit, Covid & Economic Data
- If you have US Dollars or Euros to buy or sell please contact the desk. It's important to try and get the timing right with the Pound being very volatile, our desk can try and support to the best we can.
- On going meetings/negotiations with the UK & EU will fluctuate the Pound.
Please note, this can cause a negative impact for Sterling.
